National Theatre: 50 Years on Stage Gala

On 2 November 2013 Benedict Cumberbatch appeared on stage as part of the company for the National Theatre: 50 Years on Stage event. Benedict appeared in a scene from Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead by Sir Tom Stoppard.

Also appearing in the extraordinary show were Dame Judi Dench who performed a scene from Anthony and Cleopatra and sang Send in the Clowns, Dame Maggie Smith who read from The Beaux Strategem, Sir Michael Gambon and Sir Derek Jacobi who appeared in a scene from No Mans Land, Dame Helen Mirren who appeared in a scene from Mourning Becomes Electra, Ralph Fiennes who appeared in Pravda and Simon Russell Beale who performed a scene from Hamlet.

Fan favourites Roger Allam and Andrew Scott also appeared (in scenes from Copenhagen and Angels in America respectively.
