Benedict Cumberbatch – News Round Up

9684a468-737f-4f5c-86d0-62a52e22ab09Benedict Cumberbatch appears at Letters Live next week. The event at Freemasons Hall in London runs from 31 March to 4 April 2015. Benedict Cumberbatch will be appearing every night (alongside Sherlock co-star Louise Brealey). Also set to appear are Andrew Scott (Moriarty), Dominic West, Olivia Colman and many others. There are still some great seats left on the Friday and Saturday if you hurry! Letters Live have released some videos of Benedict reading letters from Alan Turing which you can see here.

It was announced yesterday that Benedict Cumberbatch and Louise Brealey have recorded a series of letters from My Dear Bessie for BBC Radio 4. The letters (between Chris Barker and Bessie Moore) first featured in Simon Garfield’s To the Letter and have gained immense popularity after being read aloud by Benedict and Louise at the Letters Live events. Broadcast details have not yet been announced.

Benedict is off to Shanghai on the 15th April to present the Laureus World Sport Awards – this is his second year presenting.

The guest list for Sherlocked keeps on growing. Joining Benedict (who is appearing on the Saturday of the event) is Rupert Graves (Lestrade), Andrew Scott (Moriarty), Una Stubbs (Mrs Hudson), Louise Brealey (Molly), Lara Pulver (Irene Adler), Lars Mikkelsen (Magnussen), Alistair Petrie (Major Sholto) and Jonathan Aris (Anderson). Co-creators Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat and executive producer Sue Vertue will also be in attendance. Benedict’s photo and talk are currently sold out but gold (and higher) packages are still available to buy.

Benedict appeared today at the re-burial of Richard III at Leicester Cathedral. Benedict will be playing Richard III in the upcoming Hollow Crown series for the BBC and is a distant cousin of the king. At the service he read the poem Richard by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy which you can watch here.
