Benedict Cumberbatch – New wax figure unveiled at Madame Tussauds

Tussauds1On Tuesday Benedict Cumberbatch’s wax figure was unveiled at Madame Tussauds in London. Cumberbatchweb was in attendance along with 20 lucky fans who had won our competition with Madame Tussauds to be the first in the world to see the figure. You can see our exclusive photos from the event here. You can see some video from the press launch here (including a brief interview with myself and competition winners Lauren and Charlie) and Madame Tussauds have put up a brilliant making of video here.

It was hugely exciting to see Benedict’s figure unveiled. As I commented:

It is absolutely fantastic, I have had people starting petitions to get Madame Tussauds London to feature him for a long time, and now he’s here I think it will definitely be a huge attraction for fans. People will come and see him from all over the world – it’s marvellous.”

Benedict was closely involved in the creation process and is hoping to come and visit his likeness very soon. He has, however, seen photographs of the finished figure and is impressed by the results, commenting: “I’m excited to see the finished, perfect, waxy me although slightly terrified… The work is so detailed it’s going to feel a little uncomfortable and surreal seeing what I really look like!” Cumberbatch added, “But being so involved in the entire creation process and working so closely with the team at Madame Tussauds London was a phenomenal experience and really opened my eyes to the artistry that goes into the making of each figure. I just wish it could take selfies and sign autographs!

Benedict’s figure is the latest British star to join the attraction’s A-list line up, and will take up residence alongside fellow Brits Judi Dench and Kate Winslet, as well as a host of Hollywood names from Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, to Julia Roberts and Johnny Depp.
