Benedict Cumberbatch honoured with a Britannia Award

1On Saturday Benedict Cumberbatch was honoured with a BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Award for Best British Artist of the Year.

He was handed his award by Chiwetal Ejiofor (star of 12 Years a Slave) and Alice Eve (who appeared with Benedict in Starter for Ten and most recently in Star Trek into Darkness). Gary Oldman also featured in a tribute video to Benedict which was played at the event. In his rather lovely speech Benedict said he thought it was “an embarrassment of riches” to be accoladed and mentioned that he thought the award would end up in his mother’s house “she’s a strong willed woman!

You can see photos from the event here.

Benedict was also recently interviewed by Interview magazine by Gary Oldman and they’ve kindly put it on-line to read.
