Benedict Cumberbatch to narrate The Snowman and The Snowdog and Star Trek Into Darkness trailer news


Benedict Cumberbatch will be narrating an audio ebook of The Snowman and the Snowdog – the much-anticipated sequel to the classic Christmas film The Snowman. The audio ebook is illustrated with images from the film which will be shown on television on Channel Four this Christmas to coincide with the 30th Anniversary of the original Snowman film, based on Raymond Briggs’s iconic children’s picture book.

The audio ebook will cost £4.99 and is due for release on 29 December 2012. It can be pre-ordered now from itunes.

Benedict Cumberbatch is starring alongside legendary theatre actor Simon Russell Beale in a BBC Radio 3 radio adaptation of Copenhagen by Michael Frayn. Copenhagen is a fictional account of an actual event during World War II when German physicist Werner Heisenberg paid a visit to Danish physicist Niels Bohr in Copenhagen. The play looks at philosophy, morality and love while asking the question why did Heisenberg come to Copenhagen? Benedict will be playing Heisenberg to Simon Russell Beale’s Bohr while Greta Scacchi will play Bohr’s wife.

Finally it’s been confirmed that the trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness will play before screenings of The Hobbit from 14 December 2012.

Also the first 9 minutes of the film will screen before Imax showings of The Hobbit across the US. A handful of UK Imax cinemas will also screen the first 9 minutes with more still to be confirmed.

Star Trek Into Darkness is due to be released in May 2013. Benedict is playing the villain but it is still not yet known which character he is playing although both Gary Mitchell and Khan have been rumoured.
